Anxiety

Stressful & Worrisome

Everyone feels anxious at some point in their lives. It is a normal reaction to stressful situations like an important exam, job interview, or a first date. However, some people experience excessive and persistent anxiety, which interferes with their daily activities. If you think that you may have anxiety, it is essential to seek help from a professional that can offer safe and effective treatment.

Albatross TMS for Anxiety

Science has shown that the cause of anxiety is linked to the lack of communication between the parts of the brain called the dorsal-lateral pre-frontal cortex (DLPFC) and the deeper anterior cingulate (AC). This lack of communication can be attributed to DLPFC not having neurotransmitters (like serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine) that are properly activated or inhibited.

It is shown that using magnetic fields like repeated TMS (rTMS) to the DLPFC help to ‘exercise’ this area of the brain to modulate the neurotransmitters and  promote this communication. Successful outcomes have shown that approximately 80% responded favorably to the treatment and >60% of the subjects were shown to have continued decreased anxiety for up to 12 months.

Approved Therapy

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive treatment that uses magnetic fields to stimulate specific areas of the brain that are associated with anxiety. TMS is an FDA-approved therapy that is considered safe and effective in treating major depressive disorder and other mental health disorders. During the treatment, electromagnetic coils are placed over the patient’s scalp, and magnetic pulses are delivered to the targeted areas of the brain. The magnetic pulses cause the neurons in those areas to become active, which can help regulate mood and alleviate anxiety symptoms over time.

Safe Alternative

TMS is primarily used to treat medication-resistant anxiety as well as a safe alternative to medications. Many people with anxiety do not respond well to traditional medications such as antidepressants, which can take weeks to work or not work at all. TMS, on the other hand, directly targets the specific areas of the brain responsible for anxiety and can produce significant results in as little as 4-6 weeks. It is also non-invasive, meaning that it does not require any anesthesia or surgical procedures. Moreover, the TMS treatment is virtually free of side effects, unlike traditional antidepressants, which can cause nausea, vomiting, and sexual dysfunction.

Take Control

TMS has been shown to have several benefits for treatment-resistant anxiety. It is non-invasive, has fewer side effects than traditional antidepressants. Several studies have shown that patients who have undergone TMS therapy have experienced a significant decrease in their anxiety symptoms. Lastly, it can improve the quality of life and well-being of the patient, providing long-term results.
